I'm head-over-heels in love with Toni Braxton (and hell, who in his/her right mind wouldn't be?) and I fall in love with her more with every single passing day; with every song she sings; with every appearance she makes. When Toni sings it tugs at the very core of my heart. Every note reaches into my very soul and releases loving feelings like I've never known. Her sexy husky but sultry alto voice is the perfect pitch And when she dons that short do that frames her face so perfectly *swoon* I just know that I need her in my life all the more.
My world would stop spinning the day I stand face to face with her. The very thought is making me weak. My heart skips a beat at the thought of looking into those beautiful brown eyes of hers. No one moves me the way she does. I get all tingly when whenever my thoughts wander and do they ever wander often. I swear that woman sends chills up and down my spine.
Every single album, yeah I got it. If I were to begin to mention favorite songs, the list would be exhausting. But there are a few (difficult as it is to choose) that stand out. The ultimate for me is Breathe Again. I was in love with her before but when she released that song I swear she released the floodgates. The rush of emotions that that song evokes in me can never be put into words. Never. If I were to listen to this song 10, 15 even 20 years from now, the effect would be the same.
I really like Candlelight as well. There's just something about this song that grabbed me the very first time that I heard it. It's one of those songs that do not need to grow on you. Her last album Libra was a huge disappointment in terms of sales mainly because it didn't get the promotion that it deserved and needed. It was at a time when there was much controversy about her moving to another label among other things.
It's rather saddening because it's an awesome album. It's got some truly great songs on it. Trippin' (That's the way Love Works) is a truly great song. I saw her perform this song on one of the music award shows and for some reason she looked scared out of her mind; it was truly unlike her. To this day, I still wonder what the heck was going on.
Please is another song that's really good off that album; the strings on that track is a perfect touch (watch the video here - Toni's smokin!). I like the way she uses strings in her music. She's one of the few artists who still do. I Wanna Be (Your Baby) is superbly smooth and heart-warming. It's a damn shame about the marketing of this album, some of her very best work are on it.
Braxton has won seven Grammy Awards and has sold over forty million records worldwide. Her U.S. number-one hit Un-Break My Heart is the second biggest single by a female artist ever.
She has also won seven American Music Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, four Soul Train Music Awards, one NAACP Image Award and seven Troovevolt Fashion and Music Awards.
Braxton has appeared in two Disney Broadway shows: Beauty and the Beast as Belle in 1998 and Aida as Aida in 2003. Her role as Belle marked the first (and only) time (to date) that an African American has played the leading role of Belle on Broadway.
As of August 3, 2006, she has been performing in Vegas at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino. She replaced Wayne Newton with her show Toni Braxton: Revealed. Originally her show should have concluded on March 2007. However, because of the popularity that the show had gained, it was extended to August 2007 and subsequently to February 2008 and then again extended to August 2008.
My girl just totally blew the audience away! The show became the first headlining show from an African American performer in Vegas to enter the top 10 Vegas show's charting. Woohoo! That's my girl.
Unfortunately in April of this year, Toni was hospitalized with chest pains and on May 29 it was reported that all of her remaining shows had been cancelled due to health reasons. The singer suffered from heart aggravated problems (pericarditis) resulting from the birth of her second child Diezel, which endangered the walls of her heart.
The music industry will suffer a terribly huge loss if this signals the end of Toni's career. I personally cannot even begin to come to grips with the thought of her never performing or releasing another album ever again. Of course I'll always have her work up till now, but it's not the same. I need to see her and read about and know that she's out there doing her thing. It's just that simple. Toni is reported to be doing well and there has been talk of the release of her sixth studio album. I can't wait.
She's taking much needed time off to concentrate on and dedicate the time needed to getting better and staying in good health. I wish her all the very best and trust that she recovers soon and is able to at least produce and release more albums. It's quite understandable if she doesn't perform anymore. She has been reported as doing quite well and expressed appreciation to her supportive fans. Well Toni, from one of those loyal and doting fans, "You are very welcome." Stay well my love.
Toni is seriously one of the few women who can make me melt; just totally turn me into mush. Sure I lust after and crush on a lot of women; but being in love with them is a totally different ballgame altogether.
I feel so strongly about this woman that I know I'm liable to punch someone's lights out if the were ever to say anything bad about her in my presence. Yes, I'm in love with her that much.
I love her body as well. Not too slim not too thick. She's got a great pair of legs and awesome breasts. I love everything about her. Her thick lips mmm... Her legs (shit did I say legs already?), the curve of her back, the contour of her face, her cheeks, her ass; just totally love the way she's built.
Toni Braxton is smooth. She's an exquisite work of art. She's like a perfectly created bronze image. She's a flawless chocolate-hued goddess. Someone save me please.
She's got this playful teasing way about her that can be seen in some of her videos; OMG! This woman does things to me. She really does. And then when she throws in some attitude in her performance, My Word! I need air. Toni Braxton displaying attitude *thud*. (This is rather emabarrasing. It's one thing to faint from someone else's blog but to do so over your own; it's downright shameful and pathetic.)
The woman is fine! When I say a woman is fine, then the woman is fine! And don't get me wrong. I don't mean that if I say it is so; then it is so. Not at all. It's just that there are very few women who I'd describe as fine, that's what I mean by it. It's one thing when a woman is sexy, gorgeous, hot, etc, etc but it's a totally different thing when a woman's fine. Did any of that even make sense? All I can do is hope that it did but it's crystal clear in my mind. I know what I'm talking about.
MTV sums up the artist quite succinctly in my opinion when the wrote this:
Toni Braxton was one of the most popular and commercially successful female R&B singers of the '90s, thanks to her ability to straddle seemingly opposite worlds. Braxton was soulful enough for R&B audiences, but smooth enough for adult contemporary; sophisticated enough for adults, but sultry enough for younger listeners; strong enough in the face of heartbreak to appeal to women, but ravishing enough to nab the fellas. Wielding such broad appeal, Braxton managed to score not one, but two albums that sold over eight million copies; naturally, they were accompanied by a long string of hit singles on the pop and R&B charts, one of which -- "Un-break My Heart" -- ranks among the longest-running number one pop hits of the rock era.
