Jada Oh Jada How You've Grown

I have got a whole hell of a lot of love Jada Koren Pinkett Smith. I really do. I love her. I admire her tremendously. I truly respect her. I am overwhelming proud of her.

She is an amazing woman of color. She is an amazing woman period! Women of all walks of life can aspire to be like her. She lives by action/example not by words. She has blazed a trail that other women will do good to follow. Out of the depths of difficulties; she has risen.

She's a survivor. She's a strong woman. She's an exemplary individual. A superb wife. An ideal mom. A hard-working persevering actress and metal/rock band singer (Wicked Wisdom). The band has produced two albums (My Story - 2004 and Wicked Wisdom 2006 and are currently working on a third album Wrath of the Wicked). The woman is worthy of every accolade bestowed upon her.

She has paid her dues. She puts in the work. She is well rounded and grounded. She's deeply rooted in her beliefs, in her convictions, in striving to reach her goals. Jada Pinkett is most of all real. Yeah that's right, that's what I said; she's real. What does that mean? She's not idealist however she sets her sights extremely high. She's not pessimistic but she knows there's always going to be and she has been through troubling times. She's vulnerable yet strong as hell. She is w-o-m-a-n. She is all woman.

Short in stature standing only 5 feet; but the woman is a powerhouse; a tower of strength. Jada is smart. She makes good choices - choices in career, choices in life in general, choices with regard to her family, choices in matters of the heart, choices in friends and associates.

She'll be celebrating her 37th birthday next week Thursday (18 Sep) and when you think about her journey in life thus far, it's hard to believe all that she has accomplished within that time span - a successful movie and now music career, a thriving happy relationship and marriage to fellow actor Will Smith (been together since 1995; got married on 31 Dec 1997), two awesome kids of her own plus a stepson from her husband.

Every picture tells a story and this one's definitely letting the world know that 'this ass is mine'.

One of the fondest memories I have of Smith is one where she talks about how much her husband has lifted, improved and complimented her life. You can hear and feel the emotion and conviction in her voice whenever she speaks of the experience. She talks of how she was at an all time low in her life and how he came along and gave her support and encouragement first as a friend and then as a lover and life-long companion.

Will and Jada are my favorite celebrity couple. They don't just talk the talk, they damn well walk it too. They are both constantly letting everyone know that it's a marriage that's worked on daily. They do not take each other for granted. They know what's important and focus on those very things which is one of the reasons why I have faith in that union. They know what's needed and that's critical. In the words of Fabolous (with a little altercation of course) they're movement individually but they're a force when they're together.

She made her television debut in NBC's sitcom A Different World in 1991. Her film debut came two years later when she was cast in Menace II Society. She followed up with Jason's Lyric and A Low Down Dirty Shame in 1994 (one of my fav of her movies). However it was not until her roles in The Nutty Professor and particularly Set It Off in 1996 that she gained predominant recognition.

She's got some thirty-one film/television appearances to her credit so far in her career. The latest of these being Reign Over Me (2007) with Adam Sandler and Don Cheadle, and The Women which is set for release on Friday (12 Sep). I think the only reason I'll go out and see this film is because it's overflowing with so many other wonderful actresses - Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Eva Mendes, Debra Messing, Candice Bergman (yeah), Carrie Fisher and Chloris Leachman (hell yeah!!!).

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa where Jada is the voice of Gloria will be released on 7 November and The Human Contract has been completed but there's no release date as yet. The latter movie is written and directed by Jada. Yep, she's now writing and directing movies - you go girl! The synopsis: A successful corporate type harboring a deep, dark secret befriends a free-spirited stranger who encourages him to ditch his stuffy lifestyle and live life in reckless abandon.

The movies stars Paz Vega (hell to the yes yes yes!). If you don't already know how I feel about Vega go here and you'll understand. You will also be able to catch a glimpse of Jada's brother Caleeb in this movie, he'll play a bartender named Ricky.

Her career has yielded no major awards to date but that is not because Smith isn't a formidable actress. This is evident since she has received some 9 nominations for her work including 2 Black Reel Awards (1 for Best Supporting Actress and the other for Best Actress), 6 Image Awards (3 for Outstanding Supporting Actress and 3 for Outstanding Actress), 1 BET (for Favorite Supporting Actress).

These nominations span her roles in Collateral (2004 - this is my most fav to date; she did an outstanding job in this movie), Set It Off (1996), Bamboozled (2000), Ali (2001), Scream 2 (1997) and If These Walls Could Talk (1996). For her voice/work in Enter the Matrix (2003) video game, she has won a G-Phoria Award for Best Voice Performance and an Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences Award for Outstanding Achievement in Character Performance.

Jada and Will are founders of the Will and Jada Foundation which was created to provide financial aid to educational projects for underprivileged inner city youths. And in memory of her friend the late Tupac Shakur, she donated $1 million to the Baltimore School for the Arts where she majored in theatre.

She is an honorary sorority member of Alpha Kappa Alpha at the North Carolina School Of Arts. (the shades and glasses are definitely working for me)

Jada is definitely categorically one of those women who's success anyone would be more than will and happy to celebrate. One of those women you hope life will forever be kind to, knowing very well that those times when this isn't so that she will be quite alright nonetheless.

Hey did I mention that this woman is smoking hot! How remiss of me. I oughta be ashamed of myself! Hell I was too busy making sure that I got everything about her career, etc in. But no blog (at least not any blog of mine) could be complete without proclaming this woman's hotness.

She's got an amazing body, she keeps her body well toned, she's got a savvy sense of fashion, her eyes are passionately seductive and inviting and she's got a sexy smile that not only will make you beat Michael Phelps to the bedroom (or couch, or bahroom, or kitchen counter, etc), but it can also light up hearts all over the world. No sentence regarding Jada can be complete without sexy and hot being included.

She's also got this very cool reserve about her that makes her even more desirable. A sense of mystery. Yeah I could definitely go weak in the knees over her.

It has been a pleasure watch Smith grow and blossom over the years.
