Rachel Bilson Wants More

Now just in case you had not noticed, this week I'm focused on the young ones. Yes they have a right to be here too, they have a right to be showcased just as much as the next woman, (lol). They deserve for their voices to be heard. Now whether or not what I'm saying on their behalf is what they actually want said is another story.

Today I give you Rachel Sarah Bilson. If you are a fan of the teenage drama The O.C., then you definitely need no introduction. She's been playing the role of Summer Roberts for the full four seasons/years. She was originally slated to make just a few appearances on the show, however as her relationship with Seth Cohen played by Adam Brody heated up, it was evident that it was a storyline to be pursued. She ended up being a full cast member for the total 92 episodes.

Rachel comes from a family of entertainers on her father's side. Her great-grandfather, George Bilson headed the trailer department of RKO pictures. Her great-grandmother was a screenwriter and her grandfather, Bruce Bilson is a film director.

Bilson had her share of troubles growing up especially in her teenage years where she was most rebellious. Her destructive nature during those years lead to her ending up in a serious vehicular accident at the age of thirteen which left her unconscious for a few days. She suffers occasional migrates and memory loss as a result of the effects of the injuries suffered in the accident.

Her early career involved appearances in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter, Mad TV and That 70s Show. She has also appeared in several commercials including ads for Subway and Raisin Bran. Last Year she appeared in two episodes of Chuck.

She made her film debut in 2006 in The Last Kiss opposite Zac Braff. Other cast members include Jacinda Barrett, Marley Shelton, Lauren Lee Smith and one of my favorite actors Blythe Danner.

Rachel has expressed her preference for working in movies rather than television and would like to take on roles similar to those of Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman.

Earlier this year she starred opposite Hayden Christensen and Jamie Bell in Action / Adventure /Sci-Fi /Thriller Jumper. The movie also stars Diane Lane (oh yeah!) and Samuel L. Jackson (he's 'the man' I like his movies much). Haven't seen the movie in it's entirety so I can't make a judgement call on it.

Her latest project is New York, I Love You. The description: Following the successful feature film 'Paris, je t'aime' that opened the 2006 'Un Certain Regard' section of the Cannes Film Festival and was distributed worldwide, we are thrilled to present 'New York, I Love You'. 12 filmmakers will direct a short film (5 minutes) illustrating the universal theme of encountering love within the five boroughs of New York City.

'Paris, je t'aime' has proven to be a wonderfully creative experience for all the talents involved. Internationally acclaimed directors such as the Coen brothers, Alexander Payne, Gus Van Sant, Alfonso Cuaron, Wes Craven, Walter Salles, Tom Tykwer, and artists among which Elijah Wood, Juliette Binoche, Willem Dafoe, Natalie Portman, Nick Nolte, Gena Rowlands, Gérard Depardieu truly enjoyed this enjoyable and inspiring project. We now think Newyorkers need a little love before heading to China. Written by Emmanuel Benbihy, Producer. quote

Bilson has stated that if she was not an actor that she would very likely be a pre-school teacher. So Rachel let your agent get busy finding you those roles that you want so you can showcase what it is that you've got to offer.
